Our Story
Hi, I’m Lee and I thought now would be a great time to properly introduce myself and share the story behind my little business, Quirky Bird.
I’ve always had a soft spot for recycling and reusing things that others might overlook. There’s something really special about giving old treasures a second life in especially when they come with a bit of history. I’m completely obsessed with the 1960s: the bold colours, clean lines, and the beautiful craftsmanship you just don’t see much anymore.
For years, I’ve loved rummaging through second-hand shops and markets hunting for quirky vintage finds from colourful art to knick-knacks that bring charm and personality into the home. I even ran an upcycling furniture business for a while, but let’s just say storage space (and my partner’s patience!) became a bit of a challenge.
That’s when Quirky Bird took flight. I decided to bring together everything I love; dogs, fabric, photography, vintage shopping and home styling into one creative space. I design the pieces myself and work with a talented local maker who helps bring those ideas to life. Each item is handmade from retro blankets, crochet, wool, and other vintage materials I find along the way. Every piece is unique, sustainable and tells its own story.
I’m also really passionate about supporting the amazing work that local dog rescue shelters do. Donations from my Mystery Dog range go directly to Keysar Rescue, helping support dogs who deserve a second chance.
So that’s me a lover of dogs, design, and all things vintage. Thanks for stopping by and supporting a small business that believes old things still have plenty of life (and love) left in them.
